if you cannot ftp to your own server, you need to check permissions and ownership of the sp-resources directory... your web server may have not let us (due to permissions) create it with the proper permissions or may have given it the wrong ownership...

Thats odd. all other folders on my server can be ftp'ed to.. just not yours folder. That don't make any sense in my head at all.. On my own server, and all is setup. Just get failed to transfer the file.
Maybe you should add a "install plugin" in the section just like WP use?.. Just an idea.
it actually makes perfect sense for certain php setups... where the current web user doesnt get all the permissions... so when it (ie SP) creates the directory, its a different user than your ftp user...
easy enough to check the owner (ie something like root:root but obviously not root) and correct if its wrong...
a plugin installer (and theme) is on our list... was just too aggressive for 5.0 with them being initially released an all...
