Is there a simple way to display the latest forum posts via a regular WordPress widget?

If someone is at another section of my site and not in the Forum it would be nice to display the last 3 or something.

you need to download and activate the SP Template Tags plugin that contains the widget you need.

I am having an issue with the widget.  It won't display a list of forum topics to guests and users who are NOT logged in.  But when you log in, the topics are there and the widget works fine.  I can't figure out what's going on.  I thought it had something to do with the permissions system and went in and fiddled with that but it didn't work.  Please advise.

Have you actually associated the 'Guest' - or equivalent - user group to a set of access permission against each of your forums? (See the 'getting Started' section of our Codex for access control details).
