Merry Christmas Everyone! Here's something to mull over while sipping mulled wine...
I was able to replicate an issue that a number of our users recently identified, and are discussing in our support forum as Weirdness on the iPad.
This has only started happening since the latest update, and I thought it might be related to this issue, but that user has not confirmed what WordPress version is in use. We are running SP 5.5.3 with WP 4.1 and have made all necessary theme edits.
Description of issue:
Reported on various tablets and confirmed on iPad 4.
When a user taps the last post icon for a topic from the most Recent Unread Topics list, the user is redirected directly to the last #post in the thread, however, only briefly. The page then quickly scrolls back to the top.
On the desktop browser, clicking the small arrow for the recent post takes the user directly to the last post in the topic and the browser window remains focused there. For instance: /forums/treatment-and-recovery/chemo-options-dilema/#p139233 will take the user directly to post #p139233 and remain there.
On an iPad, however, the page quickly scrolls back to the top, causing users to scroll back down.
We are using the same custom theme for tablet and desktop and I have not yet tested on a phone.
Anyone else experiencing this behavior? Anyone care to try and replicate this on our site with a tablet?

First, on multiple sites, I am unable to replicate this on my ipad 3 or my surface tablets...
On your site, I do not get that behavior with my surface tablet... with the ipad 3, I get something similar though its not really a scroll to the top, it more like a jump or redirection...
I tried multiple browsers on surface and all behave the same and properly... I only have safari on ipad 3, but it works properly...
Which browser or browsers are you and your users seeing this with?
Is it only on your site? or do you get same behavior here?
Unfortunately, the ipad is a horrible development device and I can do almost no debugging with it... had it happened with the surface tablet, could have looked at a whole bunch more info to try to see what is up...
but, it definitely appears to be a local issue and is not happening generally with simple press... so probably some other js or something you are running? I assume it does it on your dev site too? perhaps try the default wp theme and see if still doing it... and could even try turning of other wp plugins to see if any interactions...
Andy has an ipad too so and likes/knows IOS more than I so he may have some alternate methods of seeing what is going on...

Happy New Year! Apparently I had neglected to subscribe to this topic...
Users reporting this issue had the problem on an Android Tablet, and iPads (unknown versions).
I believe, however, that I have just resolved the problem. It appeared to be a conflict with the Share This button generated by the Share This plugin on mobile devices.
The large round icon started appearing on tablets with a recent update to the Share This plugin. Users reported the odd "jumpiness" starting about the time they first noticed that. I was able to get rid of it by turning off the Share This button in the plugin config, replacing that with the Facebook, Email and Twitter buttons. I noticed the jumping around stopped on our iPad 4, and users on the Android an another iPad also confirmed the fix.
Interestingly, the round button still appears on the phone.
I'm not currently logged in on our iPad, so I can neither confirm nor deny the issue occurring here right now.

FYI: Jumpiness does not occur on our iPad in these forums. but the large round ShareThis button does not appear in the bottom corner either.
It looks like the options are at to show the Share This button on the forum/topic pages, but it also looks set to launch the site instead of a pop-up, so it could be a combination of various settings that caused the issue.
Regardless, it is resolved now!

I am referring to the SimplePress "Share This" Addon Plugin, not the WordPress plugin.
