Support Forum
I have Google Analytics and Clicky installed in the footer of my website, but I don't feel like it is tracking all of my forum traffic.
For example, I shared a forum thread today on Twitter. Immediately after the tweet, the forum was recording 60+ guests (as seen in the forum footer area), yet Google Analytics and Clicky were only recording 3-5 visitors. (I track in real time)
Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening and how I can remedy this? I've been noticing this for awhile now and can't seem to find any info in the forums about it.
Thank you!
unsure about clicky (What is it??)... but depends on how you are using google analytics... is it tracking by wp page or by canoncial url?
see some wp plugins will mistakenly see the forum all as one page... this is because we do generate all the forum content on that single page and use url rewrite black magic for the appearance of multiple pages... but the canonical url is always correct so search engines and things (ie social networks) will get the right page/url...

how are you getting google analytics to run?? via wp plugin or just adding the code/js somewhere?
May need BrandonC to weigh in since he is a GA user (Andy and I are not)...

I am not sure why it wouldnt work... look at any of your forum pages, ie topic view (list of posts)... see if there is a canonical url set in the head... and is the analytics code in the footer?
do you have link to your site?

You can see my forum page here: http://momspark.net/forum
Yes, I have the regular GA tracking code in the footer of my website. It will track a few hits, but definitely not all of the visitors, as the number of "guests" and actual hits are far, far off. (as stated above)

Using Google Analytics it's real easy to see if it's seeing everypage. You can go to the live display of GA and open another tab/window in your browser and go to a forum page. It will show you a your geographic location an also what page you are on. If not then something is amiss with GA.
What I don't know offhand is how long the stats are held in Simple:Press online after someone logs off or leaves your site.
Also GA may not show all bots. Some will not trigger the javascript required to report to Google and I am not sure how long the 'ive' stat is kept before Google wipes it. I get the same as you do though. A tweet can bring 50+ bots to the site all at once and they are gone almost as fast.

I appreciate your response. I do always have that GA live overview open. It may be as you said and that people are just not sticking around long enough for GA to track it.
Thanks for your help.
glad we could help.... let us know how it goes long term...
