Support Forum
I've just added Simple:Press to my site (http://sensibility.com), and I've told people to sign up by creating a WP login. Dozens of people immediately signed up, but I didn't see any users in the list on the forum (http://sensibility.com/communi.....sage-forum). Finally, it dawned on me to check the user list in the Network Admin dashboard, since my WP install is a multi-site admin. Sure enough, all the registered users have gone into that area...and the message forum cannot "see" them.
I do not want to have to "export" members from the multi-site admin and "import" them into my main site's dashboard, because that's not a long-term solution (I'd have to do a new import daily to make sure people could get into the forum). I want newly registered members to show up in the right dashboard instead of in the Network admin. How on earth do I fix this so that Simple:Press works and is, well, simple?
Really appreciate the help. My tech guy doesn't have any idea how to fix it, and he's a Wordpress guy!

J.C.
Unfortunately, that is how wp multisite works. You only get an account with a role on the one site. And simple press is a unique standalone install for each network site including the main site. Currently simple press does not share any info between network sites. We do have plans for a more integrated approach in the future.
In the meantime, there is a wp multisite plugin that will handle the members the way you want. I am away from computer on email and cannot remember the plugin name but we have mentioned it here several times so give search a try. If you cannot find it, I can find name of it tonight when home.

Right. I don't want a second account on another site (the second site in my network is simply a travel blog). I only want Simple:Press to work on my main site. I'll run a search for that plugin, as it would sure help to have an easy way to move users to the right place! If you don't mind posting when you find it as well, that will be great. Then I'll know I have the right one.
All the best,
Jennie
Well, bingo! That was easy. Installing Multisite User Management automatically pulled all the registered members in from the network admin to the main site, and they're now in the forum list.
Here's my next question: How do I assign member roles to people who are "old-timers" from my original message forum? In other words, I want to take people I recognize and set them as "Senior Members" instead of newbies. There doesn't seem to be a way to edit a member's profile to change them from New Member to Junior Member or Senior Member (roles I've set)--only to admin. I don't want to change someone from subscriber to editor or author in my WP back end, as I absolutely don't want to give forum members that kind of access to my WP Dashboard! Any other way to "promote" them on the forum?
Thanks,
Jennie
yes, that is the plugin I was referring too... and Andy has given you a way to move them... on that same panel, you can force a mapping of all existing users based on their current role...
