Reinstallation of Simple:Press

A few weeks back while searching for forum software to switch to, I had installed Simple:Press and gave it a go. It worked well but it was uninstalled and deleted while we continued to look at other options.

Now I have decided to use Simple:Press because, quite honestly, it is the best software available for my purposes.

I am having an issue however with reinstalling the plugin.

I have taken all the same steps I originally did but there was no prompt to run the install so I am assuming that it is using the original data tables.

When I try to press the remove button on the header that advertises the print topic plugin nothing happens.

If I try to 'go to forum' it is a page filled with a lot of mess from article posts.

Any help in sorting this out is greatly appreciated.

going to need more info...  a link might help too...

doesnt sound like you really uninstalled it...  there is an actual link and confirmation required to actually uninstall...  if you just deleted the plugin, that is not uninstalling...

so if you put the plugin back on the server, yes it would use the previous install info if it was not uninstalled...

so what version of sp?  and wp?

SP version 5.5.6
WP version 4.2.2

I tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling it. Now I have a page that tells me I do not have sufficient permission to access this page -

And thank you for helping me with this, it is greatly appreciated.

just that admin link? or all?   think you would have physically selected that one... have you gone to wp dashboard and then tried to go to forum admin?

also what does 'frontend' mean in the url?  is that really the url domain or subdomain name?  just looks odd to have the wp admin in something called frontend.. 🙂

From the dashboard, when you try to install the forum it says the installation is complete but when I try to continue it brings up the 'insufficient access'. I have no other options under 'forums' other than the install and it just repeats this process over and over again.

I set up a separate WP on a different url and tested Simple:Press with my current theme and it operated fine so I am still under the impression that is has to do with how it is interacting with the database.

you didnt answer if you went to the wp dashboard and then tried to go to forum admin what happens...

so 'frontend' is the directory you have wp installed into?

if you have to keep installing, do you have any caching plugins?  it seems as if something is intercepting or hijacking the ajax requests...  any security plugins or mod_security on server?

It will not let me access the forum admin from the dashboard. The only option is to install.

There are no caching plugins and yes, that is the correct directory.

what other wp plugins do you have installed?  one may be hijacking the ajax requests....

can you try installing with other plugins installed?  or perhaps looking at the ajax request responses in the browse console...

I'm going to take a look at that later today and I will let you know what happens.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me with this.

Please do. We would like to get to the bottom of it. Often these things are small and simple.
