Sorry we couldn't help. Personally think the page template is the best way and proper way to go although you could also ask the theme developers on the easiest way to remove the page title from one page leaving the rest intact.

Another thing to try is if you can edit the nav menu manually, you should be able to create a nav menu entry as just a link. If you can do that, you can create a 'Forum' entry with a URL to the forum page, that way when you remove the page title the new 'link' nav menu item should remain.
