I have my WP permalinks set to "post name" but I notice that the urls generated on the forrum have a number added to the end of them like this:
So if the topic name was "url example" , the url that is generated looks like this:
forum/forum-name/url-example-1234/
Is there a way to remove the number?

we dont put numbers in the urls unless that forum or topic title/name already exists... then it has to be made unique...

hmmm, so somehow I have created two copies of every page.

Well this doesn't really make a lot of sense. The slug routines will try and change the title of the topic into a slug. If that slug already exists then it adds a -1 on the end. If THAT exists it adds -2 etc. So - to get -1234 would take some doing!

The numbers go much higher than that.
These are not duplicate urls because if I remove the number from the url, it returns a 404.

So something else is at play here. And something perhaps, that is interfacing with the WP slug creation routine perhaps. So - let's start with other plugins. Any installed that might effect slugs in any way? Any that create new slugs in the same sort of way that SP does?
