Renaming images

The only complaint I am getting is from VERY frustrated users who try to upload their images over and over (after they have resized them to fit the requirements, for instance) and then it says "Image already exists."  You would think people would know to just re-name the image themselves, but they don't.

It would be AWESOME if you could allow them to upload images with the same name some how.  At the very least, could you modify the error message to ask them to try renaming the image?

its something being considered as I said last time... but really not as simple as it sounds.... still on the list for consideration...

not really sure why they keep uploading the same name... and its only within a given month...

Sorry to harp on it.  They keep uploading the same-named image because they originally try to upload an image that is too large, and then they resize it but don't know that they need to rename it.  Where would I go to change the error message?

in the plugins folder... look for the the plupload plugin and then library/sp-plupload-upload.php

but I am confused by whats happening... when I upload an image too large, its not left on the server... in fact, it hasnt even been copied over to the image upload storage location at the time the size check is made...

are you sure its an image too large size error message?

I can understand this happening Steve. For example I have used screen capture programs before that will dump a file named image01.jpg in a designated folder for example. If you remove that file then the next capture will re-use the file name

oh, I definitely understand how it could, but the statement was with the image size too big error... in which case the image isnt in the storage folder yet...

No it wasn't. It was stated as 'image already exists' error.

well that is not the real issue. But it it were then that begs the question why does the filename exist if it was rejected due to size?

yes, that was my question... are we really talking about the image being rejected by size - trying to confirm... cause I dont see how that would happen since its not in the storage location yet...

have been looking to see if can change the name but problematic passing the new name back through multiple js/json and libraries...
