Is there any way to reorder attachments?

Interesting question and not one I believe we have been asked before. One of my colleagues may have a better answer but I think the only way is to edit the actual post. Sorry - but the post content itself dictates the order.

how do you want to arrange them? programatically or randomly? that is, a fixed method (ie alphabetically) or differently on a per post basis (ie user arrange)? might be able to do something for former, but afraid nothing currently for latter as they are shown in the order they were uploaded...

I wanted to reorder the attachments manually. I was also hoping to be able to have some text in between attachments. My forums are more for reference / research than chat and there are often files to upload.
I suppose I can work around that by uploading the files first and then linking to them, but I do like how the file size is listed with the attachments and it's much more time consuming to have to ftp first, get the link, etc.
Ideally, I'd be able to add a file description. In some of the other forum software I've used I could cut/paste the code for the attachments into the right places within a post.
It's not that important, but would be a nice feature to have.

so upload one image... add your text... upload the next image... and so forth... you will have image, text, image, text, etc...
like this:
and then some text saying whatever you want to say... blah blah blah...
and then more text after last one...
you could do text then image, etc as well... does that help?

Didn't realize it works that way for images, but most of my attachments are pdfs or docs and they only show up as attachments at the very bottom.

ah...didnt realize we were talking non images and also the legend at bottom...
still, they are displayed in the same order as they were uploaded.... but afraid no way currently to add some text as they are just a legend of attachments...
we could add a standard wp filter to them so stuff could be added, but doubt that would give you what you want... it would have to be done with code programatically and not real time or by users... any text just needs to be added in the post itself... for future, I can add a ticket to allow file attachments (non images and media) have a link inserted into the post content too...

afraid nothing has happened with this... so far a sole request, so it has not bubbled up enough in priority above other capability that its been tackled thus far...
