hello sp! could not find what must be a FAQ. how to replace 4.1 with 5.1. i usually move files around manually with ftp client. do i simply deactivate 4.1 and remove files replacing with 5.1. or do an 4.1 uninstall which sounds like all data will be removed. thank you.

You need to be on 4.5.x to upgrade to V5 I am afraid so you will need to upgrade to that version as an interim. You can get that download here: https://simple-press.com/downl.....php?id=401

Then to upgrade to V5 this article should help: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....rsion-4-5/

4.1 is a pretty old version and while the vast majority have had no problems a small few have. We can get there but please DO make database backups betwene each upgrade just in case! We can't always easily help you if you do not.

It's still there but now it is a plugin - see https://simple-press.com/downl.....d-plugins/ for downloading them and http://codex.simple-press.com/.....g-plugins/ for information on installing them.

btw, you guys did a really nice job building this. i don't have a sp-resources folder inside the wp-content folder or plugins folder. i do have a resources folder inside the simple-press folder. should i start another thread?

... When you installed Simple:Press and assuming a successful install, a new folder was created under your WordPress /wp-content folder named /sp-resources. This is turn should contain a series of sub-folders that will hold various SP components. Assuming all is well there will be a sub-folder named /forum-plugins and this is the default location for all Simple:Press plugins.

You don't? Then you should have had a message at the end of the upgrade explaining the issue? Did you see that?

if it is not there then it means that the permissions on your server were not open enough for us to do it. You will need to go o the forum admin > storage locations and manually create the necessary folders.

Hold on though - that would mean you also have no SP theme so you will need to download that as well...

Odd and most uncommon.
