Ok, thanks. I deactivated the plugin, then looked at what the foum does, using the RPX, and it only uses it for login, it has only the little pencil thing on registration. By using the plugin, users may register as well as login. I know the minmeta plugin works with the forum, as I have both on another site. I will try the method you suggested, and see what happens. Thanks again.

I think I have an idea of what you are saying.
If you have no other Janrain or login plugins installed and activated the RPX Janrain features will add social sites login stuff both on the forum and on wp-login page.
When clicking on 'log in' in Forum the user see this.
If in wp-login they see this:
If clicking on register in the forum they get something like this:
So if on the forum page they see a register and a login button. If they have never registered for the site they would assume that they can't just login and would click on register. They would then be taken to the WP register page w/o the ability to register using 3rd party account.
But, if they clicked on login and used their Facebook account, for example, they would be automatically registered and logged in.
Same would be true using any other link for register or login on other blog pages. It would be nice if on the register page there was something like "Already have a Facebook (3rd party) account? Register with it instead."
Hey Brandon, you are correct, the issue is that with the plugin + the forum, the wp-login.php page has two sets of logins from RPX, the register has none. However, I have found that if they have never registered, they can still use the login, and that will add them to the users as well, even if it is not "registering" and is only logging in, possibly because there is an automatic registration radio button, in the janrain plugin.
I have just disabled the plugin, where it adds to the wp-login.php page, and my minimeta widget, is only showing login, so, if they click login, it takes them to where they they can use either or, if they just want to register thay can do that too.
I guess what I am trying to say, is that the best thing possible would be for the forum to add the RPX to the register page as well as the wp-login.php page, the plugin can do both, so there must be a way. I mean, you guys are all about the forum stuff, but many sites only offer a forum as an option, I need them to register on the WP side too. I think it is ok the way it is now, but if you come up with something, please let me know, again, thanks Brandon.

I found a way to make the widget work 1n the WP sidebars, and without the plugin delivering the icons/form to the wp-login.php, it no longer shows on my sidebar within the MiniMeta widget, only where I put the Janrain widget. It was just a matter of figuring out how to make them all play nice together. It would be nice to have the registration page show it as well I guess, but, with the Janrain plugin, there is a setting to have it automatically register, it seems to work, but, I did not try it without the plugin, so maybe it will do that anyway. Anyway, I just hope it all works out, I really appreciate the help, you guys have always had the answer here, usually, just searching the forum, I can find it. Again, thanks guys!
If you want to take a look at the sidebar setup etc, go here http://AmericansNOTforObama.com and look at the Home page, any Post, and you will see. Have a good one!

Thanks, the site is only a few days old, and is already getting pretty good traffic, it is a pretty popular topic. It's a little bit funny actually, in all the years since the election, I have never met anyone that voted for Obama, I dfo live in Texas, but still, I live online, and talk to a lot of people, so it seems like one person wouold admit making a mistake? Anyway, it is serious, yet all in fun at the same time, I believe that if you can't laugh at things like this, it will just make you crazy.
Have a good one, thanks again

I've got this same issue.
I added Janrain Engage plugin to enable people to log in to my blog with their social accounts because the site is based on GeoTheme which lets people add and claim listings and events.
I *almost* love what it does to the forum, though, or I will once I fix it, because it makes the social icons un-missably visible right below the guest avatar. Much better than finding the tiny monochromatic "Log In" button over at the right edge of the page.
Seems to be a CSS conflict...the icons line up great on my site's main login page (http://willowglenweb.com/charm.....e1=sign_in) and wp-login.php (http://willowglenweb.com/charm.....-login.php), but for some reason they are stacking in context of the forum environment. (http://willowglenweb.com/charm/chat)
its because the forum is clearing floats so they get stacked...
in the rpx plugin style sheet find
div.rpx_icon {
and change
float: left
to
float: left !important
and it should be what you want though I dont understand having the rpx plugin and using the sp built in rpx... seems redundant...

Thanks, that did the trick.
I get that there's some redundancy between the two plugins.
The SPX "Janrain Engage" plugin is important to me because I want to let people log in to my site with their social accounts. It happens to drop the login icons in to the forum as well, which I like. Then the built-in rpx integration is redundant, but I don't see any point in turning it off so they get the option of loggin in with their social account both ways.
