Hey I was wondering if there is a way to default the search filters to search by "post content" + "topic title" + "tags" all at the same time to maximize search results? I don't want users to have to click "advanced search" when this could default and get the most results right away.

Take a look at the spHead.php template that you will find in your SP theme /templates folder.
Near the top you will find a block labelled 'Search FORM - OBJECT DEFINITION'.
At the very bottom of this is an entry called 'searchIncludeDef' which will be set to 1. The other options are shown in the comment beside it. you can change this as you wish. But you can NOT include a tag search at the same time. Can't be done.

As always we recommend that you create your own SP theme so that any customisation is not lost during a future update. (http://codex.simple-press.com/.....g-a-theme/)
