I was using wordpress search plugin such as relvanssi(http://wordpress.org/extend/pl.....elevanssi/)for my website but seems like they don't search the content of the simple-press forums ? Is it so ? And if they don't then how do I make the forum content also searchable ? We have the search box at the top right of our website(www.aristotleprep.com)

The problem is a simple one. WordPress search - or plugins like Relevansii - know nothing of the the forum's existence. To 'make' them able to search the forum posts will take extra coding and development and to date nobody has taken that project on. And it is quite a tall order as well.

We do have more enhancements to the forum search under consideration and hope, at some stage, to include a more site wide option but I can't offer any details or timescale as yet I am afraid.

I see. I had actually removed the search box that comes at the top of the simple-press forum.  I remember that I did that by doing something in Themes->Theme Editor->mytheme.css . Do you guys have any idea as to what could I have commented out or the piece of code that I would have possibly removed that would have removed the search box? I just can't seem to recall this as I had done this  a couple of months back.

If you asked us for advice on this we would have recommended that you comment out the search function in the spHead.php template of your SP theme. Look for the function sp_SearchForm()...

Checked the spHead.php template and indeed I had commented out the part. Have removed the comments now. However, search is one area where simple-press still has a way to go. I rarerly get the relevant results on searching even on the forum here so don't know how useful will users find it. But anyway thanks andy

Is there a way to add the forum search to a sidebar widget so that the forum can be searched without entering the forum?

afraid we dont have such a thing built in... but you might try the search template tag used on the forum... you should be able to strip out some of it and make it work in the sidebar... if you search though, you will get redirected to the forum anyways for the results... have not actually tried this... and first time someone has requested it... it wont search wp content, so you will want to make it obvious its a forum search...
