Another related question. On a mobile device I do not see the Facebook share buttons but the share this green icon. It takes me to a window and allows sharing in every network posible. Can that be changed/ limited?

Would like Steve or Andy to confirm this but my guess would be no. The reason being is that it takes you to a sharethis URL meaning it’s their site, and up to them as to what social platforms they give you the choice of. What did you want to limit?
Check also that you are up to date with everything, i thought we changed this quite recently – actually 5.6.0.
I just installed it a couple of days ago and no updates are showing.
on the PC it does not take you to the share this URL though… It’s only the mobile browser that gets this option.. Makes sharing very hard..
I will check for updates again when I will be by a pc.
Edit :runnig 5.6.1
which ones do you have enabled in the share this options? and what are the options above that? (ie share minor or something similar?) are you getting more than those from the widget?
I only have perform sharing without visiting social network selected
And only have Facebook share+like and Twitter enabled
On the mobile device all of the available share this options are available. I only want 3 🙂
Is there a way to use the desktop sharing buttons view instead of the mobile one?
I only have 3 buttons..
I probably need to let @yellow-swordfish answer this… I am either confused or jet lagged from my trip… 😉
he and you have been talking about forcing the widget to be displayed vs buttons in mobile, but I cannot find where in the share this plugin it might be occurring… or in the themes which is where I would have expected some mod to the template function in use…
so could explain why the minor services option might be off as well as that should eliminate a bunch from the widget… might be worth a test to enable and see if any different…
I tested it with and without settings in all kinds of configurations.. Same result
I’m lost! I don’t think I understand what you are getting at. Can you provide screen shots to explain the question better?
Ok 😉 here it is. I only want 3 sharing options on a mobile device and on desktop. I do not want my users to choose from a list of 40 and do not want a redirection to the share this website. I want this:
To show on mobile devices as well as desktop.
I want to remove this green icon:
That openes this long list on a different page:
I just want the first view.
Did we cover whether your copy of our Share This plugin is actually the most recent (version 1,.1.9) as we used to show the ‘share this’ icon on mobiles but changed that before the last update to honour the selections the same as desktop?
mr-papa – any ideas? We changed the share this plugin in 1,1.9 to honour the settings and NOT force show the standard ‘share this’ button on mobile display so I don’t know why it should be displaying that way in this instance. I can not replicate on my tests – it behaves as designed.
that has been my confusion all along.. we have no method for forcing that button to be displayed in the latest version.. not sure how it could be happening if it really is the latest version…
just downloaded the version in the store and verified the plugin does not contain any code for doing this…
We have no caching on this domain in question?
Maybe I should remove, redownload and install again . maybe the update did not do its job..?
