I changed the name to the mySiteDefChi.css and it seemed to make some progress. Now I get this message:

[spGroupViewDesktop.php] - Template File Not Found

Sorry, but the required template file could not be found or could not be opened.

This can be caused by a missing/corrupt theme or theme file. Please check the Simple:Press Theme List admin panel and make sure a valid theme is selected. Or please check the location of the selected theme on your server and make sure the theme and the required template file exist.

thanks and getting close I think 🙂

Firstly, have you updated all the info in spTheme.txt that came with the child theme framework? All the info is in the Codex article I linked you to (Creating a child theme)..

Secondly, as this is Reboot theme, have you put the spGroupViewDesktop.php template in your templates > desktop folder? It can't sit in the root of the templates folder as in Reboot they are split between desktop and mobile.

How are you adding the overlay file? It has to be a direct 1 for 1 copy which you need to rename and then edit. Please take note of this extract from the above article:

Overlay Files
If changes are to be made to one of the parent overlay files, an overlay folder is made for the new theme and the parent overlay is copied to the overlay folder. The new child overlay file must be given a different name from any of the parent overlay files. The new file is edited to incorporate the desired changes. It is strongly recommended that comments describing the changes made be added to the file.

On the forum Admin Themes panel this new overlay will show up and be selectable when activating the new theme from the forum Admin menu Themes > Available Themes > “Available Themes-Select Simple:Press Theme” panel.

My overlay, I copied the file as you suggested from the Reboot section:

Location: /home/aortic/www/www/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-themes/mySiteDefChi/styles/overlays

orange.php

Location: /home/aortic/www/www/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-themes/mySiteDefChi/templates/desktop

spGroupViewDesktop.php

Thanks,
Brian

I would rather just pay someone to get me here as this is taking way too much of my time. I would figure for the $80.00 support, I would get a bit more help just setting this up. That's all I need.

Now this is the message I am getting for my Forum. In all seriousness, now have this frigging theme screwed up big time.

OK.. I gave up... 2 hours of this and it's just not for me... Really wish I had this darn theme uploaded by your company... I even offered to pay for it on top of the $80.00. BTW, the ShareThis Plugin doesn't work and I deleted that as I don't get the SPECIFIC reason on how to change it.

Now, I reinstalled the Reboot theme. and still see this at the top of the Admin page:

Either the mobile theme CSS file and/or color Overlay file from the selected mobile theme is missing
Either the tablet theme CSS file and/or color Overlay file from the selected tablet theme is missing

How do I fix this? What couldn't I have got a bid for this two weeks ago?

I would either like to get this Theme like you use here installed or... I just will get another forum some where else. I had to beg and plead with you guys for the ICON issue in that your templates display pictures of the icons you have on this forum yet, I am finding out now, they are your own custom and NOT included. I just don't feel that the support his is justified and warranted for the non tech experts. I simply had raised this question over 2 weeks ago with you and REALLY wanted to be able to read the posts and this was the ONLY template in my opinion that really makes it easy to read. Now after spending hours to try and get this done following the 10+ steps, this is something that I was willing to pay and now.. quite honestly, I don't feel that the "gold" membership has really been nothing more than your folks challenging me and not willing to help but rather refer me to this and that section, such as the FAQ etc., but.... I just wanted a forum that my readers could read and get the theme you use here as it is easy to read. I have tried to follow the directions, bought the SharePlus plugin only to have it not work. Now.. after trying to get the child reboot theme activated to have it like yours, I just ran into several issues.

Please.............. will someone there help me get this figured out? Otherwise, I will just go elsewhere as I don't have the time for this.

Regards

Brian
