i thought in the older versions you were able to just display a certain group and its forums by themselves with using /forum/?group=10 or forum/group-name.

you would open up a new page and all that would be on it is the group id or name and its forums and thats it.

Not that I recall. I'll ask @mr-papa if he does.

absolutely... still a supported feature... to your base forum url, just add ?group=xx where xx is the group id...

so for our General Topics group, it would be https://simple-press.com/suppo...../?group=17

Hmm do you have to enable it somewhere? because when i try it it just takes me to the actual forum index where all the groups and forums are listed.

I had forgotten this one but yes -  it does work and no there is nothing to enable. if it doesn't work for you then you probably don't have it quite right.

Strictly speaking it should not have the slash before the question mark of course. And no slash on the very end either.

The main problem with using this is that if a user clicks on a topic and then clicks back on the forum name in the breadcrumbs it will re-load the full page again. If we needed to support that it would need some extra coding here and there

i've tried site/forum/?group=10

site/forum?group=10 <--puts slash in it anyways

all it does is reloads the main forums and doesnt take me to the group view

Bit aren't the forums for that group what you wanted to get?

And you can try it here using the group ID quoted above...

whether or not you need the trailing slash is dependent on your urls... if you blog and wp settings have a trailing slash, you will need the slash as well...  or you will incur an extra redirect to the url with the trailing slash... it will work, just take longer...  even with query args, it has to follow the 'slashing' of your urls...

can you give us link to your site???  and are you sure you have the right group id?
