If you cannot use or do not like to use SVN, we now have an additional way for you to stay current with the 5.0 alpha...  nightly builds!

yup, you can now get a nightly build archive of simple press core, plugins and themes if you like...  the nightly build is, well, generated each night as the name implies. wink

If you want to use nightly builds instead of SVN, be sure to remove your svn checked out copies before switching to the nightly build...

you can find links to each of the nightly build here:

https://simple-press.com/5-0-n.....ly-builds/

if you have any problem using the nightly builds, please let us know... at some point, we may try to integrate the nightly build into the wp updater, but since it wont matter much after the alpha/beta period, it might not be worth it...

enjoy!

Wanted to apologize as I asked for this and then disappeared :-\

I ended up having a major issue with XAMPP and Win7 and lent my laptop to my great niece in collage, so I was left with no way to run a test environment for a bit. All better now, and I'm intending to do a clean install, and a upgrade test run. Thank you sooo much for providing this, and I'll let you know how it went. cool

This may be a stupid question... but when I want to update to the latest build... Can i just drop the download over the old one in FTP?

Also, any idea on the full release date now that WP 3.3 is out?

5.0 was never intended to time with wp 3.3... it does require it though...  wp 3.3 is a month or so late, so its probably going to affect our schedule...

we had planned on a formal release of 5.0 at the end of the year...  but with wp 3.3 being delayed, we have had a smaller beta turnout than hoped...  so we will probably see if there is a higher adoption rate of 5.0 now that 3.3 is out and we can get some additional test time before release...

I would put our current release estimate at some time in January for 5.0...  depends on any issues that may or may not pop up...

Ah I see, it's worth the wait.

As for the Updating each build of 5.0.. can i update it thru my WP dashboard or should I FTP it?

once you have gotten 5.0 once, you will be able to do upates via the wp dashboard... however, that is only when we push out an update... we dont do that every night... so if you want the absolute latest during the beta, you will need to get them from svn or the nightly updates...  we usually push out a beta update through the dashboard every week or two...
