Support Forum
Hello, new here to Simple Press.
I'm integrating Simple Press into my Wishlist Member site. How do I set it so that people who register under a membership level, are granted specific permissions to the forum? In other words, how can I have one level have certain permissions and access, etc.
Is that done by created a "role" or user group? I have seen some additional plugins that allow you to set roles or capabilities managers for the wp settings. Does the user group creation in Simple Press do the same thing?
Thank you,
Todd
we use wishlist here and they integrate nicely...
you are on the right track... each level in wishlist should have a corresponding wp role... then we can tie an sp usergroup to a wp role... so, yes, you will want to get a plugin that allows you to create wp roles... personally, we use: http://alkivia.org/wordpress/capsman as its lightweight, easy and straight forward... you dont need a lot of functionality... unless you need to be granting a bunch of wp capabilities, I would just make a copy of the subscriber role for each level you will have...
the on forum - options - member settings, you can 'link' the wp role to the sp usergroup... then anytime a user gains that wp role (ie wishlist level) they will get membership in the sp usergroup and gain those permissions...
please note, this only works on new users... you will need to manually move current users to the desired sp usergroup... we soon hope to have a mapping tool for that too...
