If you are registered on the GlotPress site then there will be export options on the translation project pages but it is the mo file that has the compiled translations and you need to download.
Ok it's not clear... when you'll give me Validator access, what do I need to do to test the translation live on my website? I see the export options at the bottomand if I select MO then click Export, it is downloading sp-.mo and I thought people would not have to rename, obviously the name is wrong. And do I only have to upload it to the path I gave in previous post then go select it somewhere in the options?
How do you plan to deal with specific language optimizations? Mostly the use of single and plural because in english when it's 0 you usually add a "s" like in "no messages" but in french for both 0 and 1 it's single.
While I'm writing this I'm just noticing in the stats below that it is written "There are 1 moderators". I wonder if in the fute you plan to add "if, then" to better write such sentences. "There is 1 moderator".
Sorry I'm new to S:P and I don't know how it was in version 1, 2, 3 and 4... now I understand this is a brand new 5.0 and fine tuning is not fully done but my question is if you plan to later focus on such tiny details.
Regards
which translation is downloading like that?? you should not need to rename the file (no one else has)... but its possible the specific one is set up wrong...
We usually try to handle the single/plural like your moderator example properly... that one looks like it slipped through the cracks...
as to earlier question on plurals, I know they are handled different for localizations, but I will need to have Andy weigh in on if they are handled properly (the question hasnt come up before)...
of course, we try to handle all the little details... but as a team of two core coders who do this in their spare time, priorities get assigned and only so much can be done...
we are always looking for folks to join the team or help out, but the pay sucks

Nice, I found one!

Were you only time since the beginning? This isn't a small apps, a forum is pretty complex so I know there is a lot of work in this, congrats. I was looking for a forum that looks similar to what we see with dedicated forum software and S:P looked the most promising. Glad I can help a little with a translation.
Can't wait to get validator access, I made a few mistakes so it creates duplicates that somethimes make no sense because I translated the wrong line so I guess I will be able to delete those.
ah, will go add the validator in a second...
the filename is fixed, sort of... we use glotpress which was created for wp... and thus far, there is not a wp locale defined for french canadian - evidently no one has ever translated WP into french canadian yet - at least not using the official wp translation site... so the locale which we add to the file name was empty... I have changed it to use the slug instead even though its not quite proper... it will wp sp-fr-ca.mo... typically, if the wp locale is defined it would be more like sp-fr_CA.mo but not much I can do about that...

first, you put the downloaded .mo file into wp-content/sp-resources/forum-language/simple-press
then you have to set the translation in your wp-config.php file... and this is where it could get tricky... the name of the .mo file (after the sp-) needs to agree with whatever language you may have already set there...

what did you put in wp-config.php? and what is the file name you put in wp-content/sp-resources/forum-language/simple-press?
