Support Forum
I want to use Simple:Press 5 for a forum for discussion of legal issues, best and worst practices, and helpful ideas concerning governmental transparency, freedom of information and civic rights under the First Amendment. It would be incorporated into the site at http://www.calaware.org. But I'm new to the product and a bit bewildered at the variety of plugins offered. I'd appreciate advice on which of them others would recommend as essential or highly useful for such a forum.
hopefully, other users will jump in and offer some of their favorites... but it really comes down to choice and what you want to do...
do you want members to be able to communicate with messages to each other? if so, private messaging will do that...
do you want members to be able to subscribe to forums and topics and get notifications on new posts? subscriptions does that..
do you want users to upload images or other files? then you need the file uploader... you probably want the tinymce editor plugin for an easy to use posting experience...
but in general it just comes down to what you want to do... The forum does what some folks want out of the box...
have you taken a look at: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....e-plugins/
there is a list and short description of each plugin... additionally, there is a link to a page with lots of info for each plugin itself...
