Support Forum

Not even a second chance eh?
Hehehe.. I switched the name servers back to the shared acct and all is well again.
I see your forum IP is in Texas. I had a VPS last week and it sucked too. They subbed it out to BlueHost or at least that was where the IP resolved to. Now this Dedicated server is identified as UnifiedLayer-Net10 which is unidentified as a company by doing a Google search, so who knows who hosts that machine. It appears to ne in Provo Utah.
Tech support admitted that they sub out their VPS and Dedicated hosting elsewhere. But as a client there are just too many hoops to jump through when i need support help.
Now they are saying my site is using too much memory and needs a caching program. Rotten Plicks, just pass the buck!
Thank you for contacting HostGator support! It would be my pleasure to assist you today. I have researched into the problem with your server running out of memory frequently at this time. It would appear that the wordpress site at /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/doc/public_html is had 230 processes running, which was consuming a large amount of resources at the time your server became unresponsive:
230 /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/doc/public_html/index.php -> CPU %: 202.4 | Mem %: 109.3
I have looked at the access logs, and this does not appear to be bot traffic. After further investigation, I see that your wordpress site is not currently running a caching solution. This would assist in reducing the impact on the server of this wordpress installation. Typically, we find that wp-supercache is an effective plugin, that while configured correctly, will improve your site performance, as well as reduce resource consumption on the server.
I have a hard time believing that CPU and Memory usage. The same configuration only uses at most 10 resources, and the cpu and memory are never a problem before.
Below is a screen grab from the shared server which is now running the site showing the current resources.

I wonder if serialized data might have had something to do with the new site "puking all over itself." (Not relating to SimplePress, but WordPress in general.) I observed similar symptoms on my first attempt at migrating to a new dedicated server. See my post at https://simple-press.com/suppo.....ress-site/.
If you're looking for a good host, I can recommend Serverpoint. I have used them for years for shared hosting and colocation. My WordPress sites are on one of their Cloud+ VPS servers. All is running well. Great support there, too.
Good luck.
Brad, thanks for that info.
I was contacted by Tony in HG cancellations. We had a good conversation and he canceled the dedicated server and agreed that there was something wrong with it. He agreed to set me up a level 5 VPS to try out before committing to the service, great guy who really cares about HG's customers.
Anyway to make a long story short, the fidosysop.org site does run on it, but it's slow and sluggish. No where near as fast as the shared account i have with HG. After 24 hour propagation period it was barfing all over itself. Using all the memory and swap file space. I will be talking with Tony tonight when he gets in, but something is really crazy going on.
I did find out that all HG's VPS accounts are now being migrated to Provo Utah to the BlueHost data center. I had told Tony your forums are on a Dallas HG VPS IP and that's what i wanted, he then emailed me about the migration of all the clients being migrated and that includes you guys..
Meanwhile my site is propagating back to where it was before.
