Something weird going on. WordPress is sending me notification that a new user registered. But the email to the registrant is not getting sent. I have confirmed this in my servers outgoing email stats.

So after reading this article i set up a Mandril account and installed their WpMandril plugin and configured the settings on their end including generating an api key. Still nothing sent.

Only thing different is i changed the url of this blog using an update urls plugin. I poked around in the database and didn't see anything that looked out of place.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance and happy Thanksgiving everyone.. wink

Ed

Go to the forum admin > options > email options. Do you have turned on the facility to use the SP new user email? If so turn it off and try it again.

The WordPress team made changes to the pluggable function this is based on (as well as password control) which they did not properly communicate with plugin developers. I think quite a lot of us got caught with these. Hopefully that is all the problem is. And of course we have rectified things for our forthcoming 5,6 update.

As to thanksgiving... well with 1 American  and 2 Brits on support and development it hits 33% of the team 🙂 although having said that I guess us Brits should really be thankful we lost you ... more trouble than made it worth hanging on to 🙂 I'll raise a toast to the old colony in Thursday!

Was using the sp email but turned it off. No change.. frown

I wonder if dnssec being added to my domain could cause this? But even that don't make sense if i am receiving my new user notifications.

A bit out of my league but I wouldn't have thought that would affect email generation. I;ll have to throw it open... - so - any ideas anyone?

I finally got it sending new member emails using Mandrel but now my new member notifications quit sending.

This test email was just sent to my live account. Username: DocSysOp To set your password, visit the following address: but all that does is bring up the login prompt. No way to enter the accounts password other than using the lost password routine.

Here are my user registration email settings.

if you turned off SP emails, then the options have no impact - they are not used...

if you are one of those affected by a recent wp change, you will need to leave it turned off until WP 4.4 and SP 5.6 come out first or second week in Dec..

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving..

Tried removing all the Login/Registration Redirects but after saving the bottom one the Login URL in new user email box loads some jibber jabber when clicking the update button. That link is sent with a new user email but does not work.

So a recent WordPress core update broke this functionality?

Regards, Ed

wp broke backward compat with 4.3...  we fixed it in our 5.5.11 release but then wp changed their change to keep backward compat in 4.3.1 which of course broke our fix to their fix... 🙂

should be fully resolved in 5.6 that is coming out with wp 4.4 on Dec 8 (their planned date)...

This is the email that is sent to new users:
___________________________

Dear [firstname],

Our records show that you recently asked to reset the password for your account.

Your current information is:

Username: [username]

Membership: Array

As a security measure all passwords are encrypted in our database and cannot be retrieved. However, you can easily reset it.

To reset your password visit the following URL, otherwise just ignore this email and your membership info will remain the same.
___________________________

As you can see there are no firstname, username, membership level or reset link.
When I deactivate the Simple-Press plugin the emails are sent with the correct information and reset link.

I went to forum admin > options > email options. Nothing happened when I turned off the facility to use the SP new user email.

Can you offer any help please?

Thanks again!

not sure where that new user email would be coming from, but it doesnt look like simple press... we dont user shortcode style placeholders like that...

did you customize the email??

you can see ours on forum - options - email settings...   we use %%USERNAME%% placeholders...  what text (including placeholders) do you see there?

so i would guess that you have another plugin or theme that is trying to customize the new user email and its competing and conflicting with ours...  are you sure on forum - options - email settings that you disabled the simple press new user email?  if disabled, we wont affect at all...

and as I said, that email content you posted, is not from us...  unless you incorrectly customized the message with the wrong placeholders...
