Hi,

I tried now several times to install simple:press V5, but after uploading simple-press to the plugin folder an activating it, it won't install. It appears following report: "Simple:Press can not create sub-folders under wp-content. Please assign correct permissions and re-run the install."

Besides this message it appears nothing else. No list of which folders should be created and nothing about the permissions required. So I am not able to install simple:press 5. I already manually created sp-resources in wp-content and in sp-resources I created dictionarys like: forum-themes, forum-smileys, forum-plugins. I also ggave these dictionarys 777 permission, but nothing changed.

I need fast help pleaseconfused

Regards

The ideal permission setting for the wp-content and for folders within wp-content is 775. So you need to check the current permissions starting at the wp-content level. Some hosts will set the servers to baulk at the use of 777 so that may not work anyway.

It may not be permissions however It may be ownership. You should have ownership of those folders but if they were set up wrongly (and we have seen this before - with an ownership of 'www' for example) then you wont be able to use them. If you can manually create new folders though that does suggest this is probably OK.

SP performs is_writable() checks before trying to create a folder and if that comes back false we are not given any information as to why it was I am afraid. Your host support may be able to shed some light in why this might be.

blog? what blog? yours?

bb-config.php?  please explain as that would be our stuff...

so what happens when you try to install?  and to be sure, we are talking about 5.0 here, right?

anything in the server error log?  best thing to do would be to try install with firefox and firebug... install with its console open and see what kind of responses or errors you are getting...
