Simple:Press + Wordpress Theme = Site and Admin Instability

Hi I have SimplePress running with a theme I have purchased however there seems to be some issues arising from this.

1. The admin area glitches out in the sense that the theme and simplepress css styles maybe conflict. See screenshot attached.

2. I have downloaded and uploaded the themes you provide into the theme folder and none of them are reflecting online.

Edit: disabling the theme doesn't help. I also followed the install process perfectly. Manual upload, active, install. No errors.

Also cannot delete themes through the admin area.

Thank you,

Ben

not sure why you removed the screenshots from the content...  and its not clear from the screenshots what admin page that is you have loaded...  why is it lightboxed? why is it showing front end?  not on the wp customizer are you?

99.9% of themes dont affect any display in the admin area - they are front end based... they might load new admin panels, but very few add any styles...   if you really disabled the wp theme and are still having problems in the wp admin, then trying disabling your wp plugins - they will have more admin affect then a theme...

theme folder?  there is no need to move themes around from the simple press plugin folder - they get put where they go...  or do you mean downloaded from our download page? if so, where did you put them?  did you use the theme installer with zip file or uploaded the extracted files to the sp theme folder (not wp)?

if you cannot see themes in the admin, how are you trying to see them in the admin?  you have me confused...

if the issues you are having is in the admin, the link to site wont really help since we just see the front end...

if you could please clarify some things, we can try to help you...

not sure why you removed the screenshots from the content…
- because there are two links at the bottom now and having a picture inside the content looked weird

and its not clear from the screenshots what admin page that is you have loaded…  why is it light boxed? why is it showing front end?  not on the wp customizer are you?
- it's not light boxed. I changed the simple:press theme and that's what happened. Nope not on the wordpress customiser

99.9% of themes dont affect any display in the admin area – they are front end based… they might load new admin panels, but very few add any styles…   if you really disabled the wp theme and are still having problems in the wp admin, then trying disabling your wp plugins – they will have more admin affect then a theme…
- you were right it was a plugin issue. Thanks

theme folder?  there is no need to move themes around from the simple press plugin folder – they get put where they go…  or do you mean downloaded from our download page? if so, where did you put them?  did you use the theme installer with zip file or uploaded the extracted files to the sp theme folder (not wp)?
- never said I was trying to move them, I said 'delete' there is a delete button next to each theme. I was testing to see if it worked. It did not at the time. I put all assets (plugins and themes etc) in their respective folders within the >wp-content/sp- "repository"

if you cannot see themes in the admin, how are you trying to see them in the admin?  you have me confused…
- not sure how you can be so confused I think my comments are pretty clear, but I do appreciate the help

if the issues you are having is in the admin, the link to site wont really help since we just see the front end…
- I added it because 99% of the time your admins ask it in the other forums. Just covering all bases because it was my first post here.

if you could please clarify some things, we can try to help you…
- thanks top notch support you have here :)

sorry, just easier to see the images in the post (and lightboxed larger) than opening in a new tab.. no worries...

an sp theme isnt loaded in the admin so not sure how it would cause it... but assume since you said it was a plugin conflict, assume all is well now?

would like more on the part where you couldn delete the themes...  what happened? error?  message? or just nothing?  what is the permissions on the sp-resources, forum-themes and the theme directory?  perhaps server permission configuration is such that the web user cannot delete the directories and files...

Hey mate, fair enough. Will leave it there next time.

All is well now thanks.

The plugin in question was a plugin which restricted site access. Instead of me creating a htaccess file I use this plugin while doing dev on live sites and then drop it once ready. 9/10 times I have no issues, I had actually forgotten that I had issues with this plugin before but as soon as you mentioned plugin I knew it was this plugin.

I'm not too sure how it works specifically. Something I need to look into.

Thanks again
