I don't know what sort of hosting package you had but if it was shared hosting then all other sites on that server are going to have a negative impact and it only takes one to be a resource hog and it can upset things for everyone else.

Yes we can only afford shared hosting and it will remain that way for the foreseeable future. Just host are still adamant that there is no problem so I hit them with some statistics

First the original test site.

Then the new site.

The results were generated from the URLs below which are quite useful, you can enter your own site when accessing the page. What do other people observe? It's strange but when Just Host use the same URL's with the same sites running the same scripts they get totally different results which I find extremely strange.

I find it impossible to get the formatting right when adding images, what am I doing wrong as an aside?

Getting the text to sit below the image, it never works and adding paragraphs in the html editor seems unpredictable so I am sure that I'm missing something simple. Anyway you guys have enough going on without worrying about such trivia. I was rather hoping that one of the more experienced users would answer. wink

Steve what are you on about? kiss kiss

There's no 45mbps here, it's some place used by the site in Chicago, IL that is used to determine the speeds follow the link above to see.

The forum is run on behalf of a small not for profit organisation and we cannot afford a VPS, too expensive.

I didn't understand the comment either 🙂

And actually where fast speeds like that ARE available here in the UK (some cabled areas) then the cost is real cheap. Probably no more than the more standard 2MB - 8MB. Just finding areas that provide those kinds of speeds is hard leaving aside whether you would want to live there!

There again - I don't really want to live in Chicago either.

Ditto!

I essentially means inner city which essentially means no way for a country bumpkin like me! Besides I honestly don't find the 4-5mbps much of a limitation at all for what I do.
