better hosting? but seriously, if you are on shared hosting, it could be a bottleneck...

you could always check your error log... or if you have a hi end dedicated server, your hosts should be able to run some process and/or mysql analysis and see what is going on...
are you displaying gravatars? if so, grab the gravatar cache sp plugin...
longer when you save? that is obviously a db access so what else could be involved? any social network stuff?
maybe try disabling other plugins and see if it changes? shouldnt, but perhaps worthwhile test...
