a friend did a test with smiles but it shows up as broken link
Inspecting it shows that it's trying to load
<img class="spSmiley" alt=":)" src="http://www.hj-story.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/smile">
which there's no file call smile there, it doesn't say smile.gif or anything.
the default wordpress smilies are all icon_smile.gif so I'm not sure what this is pointing to
any idea what I should do to fix it?
Thanks!
Actually I have no clear idea whatsoever although can perhaps make a suggestion...
The way things work are... firstly the display looks for any Simple:Press smiley codes and, if found in the post text, converts those to urls.. It then runs through the standard WordPress function to pick up any smiley codes that are NOT SP which ':' followed by ')' is one of. As I say, this is a WordPress core function. And it should work here for me ...
So WordPress not Simple:Press is responsible for providing the path and filenames etc. And it works just fine.
So - I suspect that there is a third party component involved here. Maybe another plugin. Or a server setting. Or an htaccess rule.... Something that is interfering with the URL after WordPress has created it and sent it back to SP. Something perhaps that effects the post content. So do you have anything at all that might be trying to manipulate urls and filenames in this way?
