Support Forum
The forum I have set up is for members only - so there is a required login/approval process before anyone can gain access to the forum. But over the last few weeks I am getting spam posts on my forum. How can I be getting these spam posts in my forum if I have not approved any of these spammers to have access to the forum?
Thanks,
Thomas
are you allowing guests to post? this wont have anything to do with wp settings, but forum settings...
please see: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....ng-access/

No guests are allowed to post. Through wordpress I have it set up where you have to register for the forum - be approved - and wait for a follow up email letting them know they are approved and can now enter the forum, change their password, edit their profile, etc. You are not supposed to be able to get into my forum before you register and are approved. That's why it's so confusing that I am getting these spam posts about car insurance quotes, etc.
as I said, wp settings have NO effect on who can post in the forum... we have our own permissions for controlling who can post in the forum... that link I gave you explained it all...
I guess its possible you have something else that might inhibit access (ie password protect the wp page) to the forum page since its just a wp page, but if they some how get through your setup (and the forum has no hand in this), then the forum permissions control it... but this is easy... for all your forums, just set the guest permission to no access...
