So far as I can tell, I have set the forum so that guests cannot post. But some do manage to do so. The posts are held for moderation but it is still frustrating. When I try to post without logging in, I get "Unable to save. No guest email entered."

Right now, the forum mostly has beta test posts. I just finished a large, paying project and will have time to promote this site.

well you currently have your forum set up to allow guest posting...  I can and did post there as guest:

http://sacsteam.org/forum/site.....back/#p345

so are you not wanting guests to post?? if so, just dont give them permission to post... see: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....ng-access/

not when a guest posts, you have two fields above the post content that they need to fill out... guest name and guest email... if you dont put those in, you will get the error message you allude too...

your guest posts are going into moderation, so they are not visible...

If you just want to cut down on spam from guests, I would suggest taking a look at the admin bar plugin... it incorporates akismet for catching spam...

I seem to be missing something. In Forums > Manage Groups and Forums > Site Feedback > View Forum Permissions, it says Guests => Read Only Access.

No, we don't want guests post. We do have Akismet and it is catching lots of spam. We only get a few guest posts and, yes, they get caught in moderation. Still, they are frustrating.

on forum - usergroups - map users to usergroups... what usergroup do you have guests mapped to?

also check forum - permissions - manage permissions and see what permissions you actually have set for the No Access permission set...  Its just a name - you may have tweaked the settings...

if all that seems right, then perhaps go to forum - toolbox - housekeeping and try clicking on the reset auths cache and see if that affects anything...

Thanks. Permissions for Read Only (Not No Access) were set right.

I did not know about the mapping. Mapped guests to Guests. Didn't help. But resetting auths cache worked. Now no button for adding reply.
