Support Forum
Before spending the time doing a fresh install of wordpress 3.3 and spf 5.0 (beta) and more mucking around, I would be interested to know what new multisite capabilities have been added to this installment. More specifically, I am concerned with developing a solution for a single forum across a network of sites, e.g. all children sites will share the parent forum. I do not need a separate forum for each child site.
- Will children sites be able to apply their themes to a primary central (parent) forum, depending on which site the forum is accessed from?
- Can we automatically map new member registrations to spf user groups to permit forums visibility restrictions?
Thanks.
No, other than a few cleanups and changes to configurable storage locations, no new features or capabilities were added for multisite support in 5.0... as we have said, that is a focus of the future 5.1 release...
each forum is a standlone, unique installation on each and every network site (or main site)... there is no current direct (in core) way for network sites to reference or access other network sites...
the ability to map member registrations to sp usergroups has already been in sp for quite some time... but again, it will only be on that singular installation of the forum, ie each site...
