Support Forum
I have my forum set up behind a membership site using WPeMember. I am trying to wrap my head around what happens when someone cancels their membership.
I realize that the forum page will be protected so they won't even be able to access it anymore without a valid membership. However, if I understand correctly, their forum account will remain active, right?
So if a member cancels their subscription, will they still get forum emails with updates to posts that they have subscribed to? Is there an automation that can happen with the forum when a member's status moves from active to expired or canceled, so that it shuts down the forum account as well?
I think you may have heard this before but membership is also outside the boundary of what Simple:Press can influence.
And it all depends on what the membership plugin (and I know nothing of the one you are using there) does when a membership is cancelled or expired. WishList member, for example, does nothing useful so the scenario you paint is true. The ideal would be if the membership system allowed you to move a cancelled or expired membership into a separate WP role as if that was the case it could be nicely mapped to an SP user group who have no permissions.
If they run any hooks upon this event - and they would be able to tell you this I am sure - then it would be possible to write a small piece of code that performs such a task of course.
