Hey team,

Unfortunately my website crashes whenever I activate the subscriptions plugin. I understand that there is probably some sort of conflict with another plugin on my site, however I have not been able to pin-point the conflict as of yet.

We have a small forum, and would like for all registered users to receive an email notification whenever a new topic is started.

Is it possible to do this without the subscriptions plugin?

Thank you!

Ryan

It is most likely that it has fallen foul of a small WP 'bugette' and has renamed the folder it has been loaded into. Check it out. In your forum-plugins folder there should be a folder named 'subcriptions'. I am guessing it has something lie a -1 on the end of it. Get rid of that and all should be well.

Thank you for the insight.

It looks like it is named correctly when I upload it (see attached image).

Any other ideas for how to send an email notification to every registered user whenever a new topic is started? Or even whenever someone replies to a topic?

Thank you, my team appreciates the help!Subscriptions.jpgImage Enlarger

No - there is no other way of doing it - at least with the current core and plugin set. Worth noting that the Subscriptions plugin will also send emails for every nee post unless you use the digest options.

So - if it is not the bug with the numeric folder suffix then trying to find out what is happening is the best way forward - well always was the best way. Can you define 'crash' please? And - what gets reported in your php error log when this 'crash' happens as that should provide a clue.

By crash I mean the "white screen of death"

Thanks for the help on this. The subscriptions plugin is now working and not causing a white screen of death. As is usually the case it must of been some sort of plugin conflict.

I did a bunch of updates this weekend which must of fixed the issue somehow.

Again, thanks for just being readily available. We appreciate the reliable support big time.

Now that I have the subscriptions plugin, as well as the membership subscribe plugin, what do you think is the easiest method for me to configure these plugins so all registered users receive an email notification whenever a new forum topic is posted?

How about for when a reply is posted?

Thank you!!!

if you want them to receive an email on all posts, they will need to subscribe to all forums...

How can I, as the administrator, manually subscribe everyone to all forums?

I don't believe you can.

And of course this is really how it should be. There are territories in the world where forcing such emails is actually illegal! Subscriptions are primarily opt-in although you can force auto-subscription of topics a user posts in - although they can refuse that as well of course.

That makes sense I understand.

How does the "Membership Subscribe" plugin function?

At first glance it looks like it might give me the functionality I am looking for?
