I've got several people saying to me they cant use my forum....including my moderator. I now realize that the best way to make sure it works is for me to have access at each level, member and moderator so I can see for myself whats happening. I've created a 3rd login to test how the forum works for the moderator:

how to convert my normal member status into moderator status?

Thanks

the best thing to do is create a new wp user that you can make a moderator...  you wont be able to remove your admin status yourself - too many users were accidentally doing it...  but if you have another sp admin, they could remove your admin status on forum - admins - manage admins...

I have created a new WP user and I want to make him moderator. When I go to forum – admins – manage admins… it allows me to make someone admin, but how do I make them a moderator?

you assign them to a usergroup with the moderator flag set...  and then assign that moderator usergroup whatever permission set you want...

Your reply does not help me - I need to know how to do this - where to go in the menus to do what you are saying.

thanks

sorry, but not sure why it doesnt help...  hard to be super specific since its your site... do you have any usegroups with the moderator flag set on forum - usergroups - manage usergroups???  by default, we ship with one called moderators...

anyone added to that usergroup will be considered a moderator... but the permission still control what they can do...

I have gone into usergroups – manage usergroups as you can see there is a moderator usergroup (see screenshot).

But this doesnt help me.

I need to know how to make a WP user a moderator?

I'm feeling frustrated trying to resolve this..... I really do not how know how I can communicate to you more clearly......

the frustration goes both ways! ;)   Thought it was fairly obvious, but sorry if not...

in your screenshot, you clicked on Edit User Group...  Directly below that button is one that says 'Add Members' which does just that...  there is one for moving or deleting members from that user group too...  and in same row, but under the user group name, is a button for showing the current members of the usergroup...
