Support Forum
Hey there,
My forum is members only, exists at http://deepesthealth.com/forum/ - Simplepress has been running ok. Recent upgrade seems to have broken things. The posts in my forums are no longer visible on the front end. There are also several forums fully missing (visible on backend, but not frontend).
Most recent error reads:
file: /mnt/stor7-wc2-dfw1/538952/582652/www.deepesthealth.com/web/content/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/admin/panel-toolbox/support/spa-toolbox-save.php
line: 66
function: sp_build_post_index
error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' post_count=0, post_id_held=0, post_count_held=0 WHERE topic_id=' at line 2UPDATE wp_sftopics SET post_id=, post_count=0, post_id_held=0, post_count_held=0 WHERE topic_id=1
Obviously I can't take an actual look at the forum page as it is members only. And it looks like you have tried to rebuild indexing - which I may have suggested.
So we need to start with a question or two...
Were there any noticeable problems during the upgrade process?
The error you pasted above - did that come from your php error log or from the SP Toolbox error log?
Could you please check the Permission Sets in admin to ensure they are all intact?
I suppose I should also ask if you have a db backup so we can restore and run the upgrade again. The one thing that comes to mind is if the upgrade failed to make some planned database changes for any reason.
It may be that the only way to get to the bottom of this wopuldbe for me to actually look at the database itself so would that be possible if necessary?

1. Problems during upgrade process: Yes, but I'd be hard pressed to explain it. I ran the upgrade, which gave no error messages, seemed to proceed normally. Later, when I logged in, no problems. However, when I went to actually visit the forum, it gave me an error message saying the forum was in maintenance mode!
I went to the backend to check it out, and there was a message indicating that some plugins/themes needed to be updated. I did that, and everything was fine as far as the "maintenance mode" message went. However, I did not then check to see if the message text was actually showing up - so I'm not sure if the text was absent from that point forward, or if the problem happened later.
2. The error came from the SP toolbox error log.
3. Regarding permission sets : in SP admin, all the permission sets appear, the settings are as before, and the forums seem to have retained the permissions that I originally gave to them. Is there anything else I should check?
I do have a backup, but it's a bit old, unfortunately. It seems that the backup I did before upgrading my plugins this time is corrupted. Of course. :\
Happy to give you access to the database. You've already been in there when I was first installing, so don't see any reason to avoid it now. The PMd details should still be accurate, actually, if you still have those.
1: Did it really say 'Maintenance Mode'? That is not a phrase we use anywhere in SP so I am confused by that...
2: If you did not run an index rebuild then can I assume this message was old? It will be dated.
3: That's good news.
We do not retain credentials once the problem they were given us for has been resolved. Please PM credentials to both myself and to 'Mr Papa'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.
if you can make that an SP admin as well then please do. And if you want to add database access then that could prove useful.

1. Well, probably different language. It said something along the lines of "forum software is being updated," I don't recall the specific language, sorry. Should have taken a screenshot.
2. I did rebuild the index - trying everything. The message is dated 7/30 at 4am.
I will PM the relevant info immediately.
