Do you have an example for how the Thanks plugin works?

I have activated the plugin. And the user has the permission set but I don't see this button.

Probably the best thing to do would be to read the codex information on it. http://codex.simple-press.com/.....ost-thanks. It shows you how to add the needed template tags to your Simple:Press theme and recommendations are to where.

Here is the thing. After I activated this plugin and gave permissions to members. I see the Thanks button only when the admin logs into the forum.

If I log in as a member I don't see the Thanks button.

I have not added the template tags but since the spadmin sees the button I thought it might not be needed.

for anyone to see it, you need the template tag... so it is likely already in the theme...

how did you give a user permission to give thanks?  change it on forum - permissions - manage permissions?  and are you sure that the modified permission set is actually combined with a usergroup on the forum(s) in question?

can you log in as a test user and go to your sp profile and view the permissions tab... for the forum(s) in question, what is the setting of the thanks permission?

if that is right, you might try going to forum - toolbox - housekeeping and reset the auths cache...

Is it possible for the admin to get an email when a person thanks a post. I thought I saw an option but can't seem to find it again

No afraid not...  actually this is the first request for something like that...  seems like it would be a lot of noise on any reasonably active forum...  but I can make a note of it for future updates to the plugin...

we tend to work on things based on the number of requests from folks so might be a while unless we are in there for something else...  if this is critical to your forum, would suggest you consider our custom plugin service...

Well I'm going to be using it as a 'like' the post. So can the author of the post get a notification that someone liked his post? Basically I'm looking for the post author to know people liked his posts without him having to go to the post.

have you looked at the Share This plugin?  you can actually like posts with that one...

but as I mentioned, have noted the request for when we update the Thank Post plugin...

Share this has a a FB like. What I want is like button just for the private forum. And where a user can easily see who has liked his post. Kind of a FB like but within the private forum
