Then I need to set up some data so I can try this. Perhaps the Codex is wrong on this one which would be odd as I know they are all tested before being written up.

I know this worked on default, as I had it like this before.

So what was the code you placed in the Default theme? because the theme doesn't change the way the function works.

I can't remember what I had there as I did not do a child theme and an update erased it. Though I used the instructions from the codex to add it.

OK, it seems like it basically a missing image.
i think you should be able to do the following as a temporary measure until an update comes along.
Look in the theme folder reboot/styles and locate the file called sp-thanks.spcss and remove it.

Yes. In the empty argument - between the two single quotes - put
title=0
(that's a zero)
