Greetings,

Have a 4 year old or Simple:Press forum that I am bringing back after a hiatus and when not logged in I get

"The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it" but everything is there when logged in and seems to be working OK.

I don't have a cache plugin running so I am not sure what is happening.  Permissions from what I can tell seem OK.

The forum is at http://stangsgarage.com/forum/

I'd be happy to read other threads if there some links handy, I have just had much luck in searching.

Thanks,

Stang

4 years old?  what version of SP?  and more importantly, what version of WP?  you might have a mismatch...

is the wp page the forum appears on still matched to the url?  check forum - integration - page and permalink...  might be worth trying a permalink update while there too...

Hey there Mr. Papa.

Wordpress Version 3.9.1

Simple:Press Version 5.5

I also checked permalinks and slugs and they seem to be OK.  Integration shows the permalink to be http://stangsgarage.com/forum/

I've been over permissions, but nothing really stands out especially just for viewing the forums.

Thanks.

You seem to be having other problems at the moment - Error establishing a database connection - a WordPress error message. Please do let us know when that is resolved so we can come back and take a look.

It's back.

I was actually trying to drop multi-site tables and broke things.

if you were coming from a version that old, perhaps try going to forum - permissions - reset permissions and try resetting them...

Not quite it, but you got me in the right direction.

No change when resetting permissions, but I looked further and saw under Forums Add Global Permission Set so I added guest and it worked.  I wonder, should I do the same for member and moderator?  If so, what would the correct permission set be for those two?

Thanks,

Stang

Which permission set to use or - indeed - if you need to create your own new ones - is really something you need to decide. The permission sets determine what users can and can not see and do so this is rather important.

But yes - to enable access to forums each user group will need a permission set pairing for each individual form.
