Hello,
I managed to translate the Simple Press admin by uploading the sp-fr.mo file to the /wp-content/sp-resources/forum-language/simple-press/ directory an then renaming it to spa-fr_FR. (as fr_FR is the language defined in my WP config file)
Then I downloaded the sp-fr.mo file from http://glotpress.simple-press.com/ and uploaded it to the /wp-content/sp-resources/forum-language/sp-themes/ and renamed it to sp-fr_FR.mo but this time it didn't work.
When logging as a user everything is in english. I know some text depends on the plugins but I've got very little plugins installed (just downloaded 2).
Do you have an idea about what I did wrong ?
Here is my forum:

Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Aurelien
A few more specifics please... what is not getting translated?
have you read: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....alization/
a lot of the forward facing strings are probably defined in the theme translation... have you grabbed that translation?

Yes I did read all the documentation, this is how I was able to set up the french translation for the SP admin.
If you check out my forum page:
http://www.formation-bloguer-g…..ommunaute/
You'll see that except the forum names and post titles, everything is in english so it looks to me like the theme translation it not working.
For example, phrases like "Advanced search" or "XX topic with unread posts" are related to the theme and not to a plugin.
I thought I did grab the translation when I downloaded the sp-fr.mo file and uploaded it in the /wp-content/sp-resources/forum-language/sp-themes/ folder. Am I missing something ?
Thanks for helping
Yeah, the real question was did you download the SP core front end AND a theme translation for the theme you are using?

Sorry, just trying to make sure you downloaded multiple .mo files in accordance with the Codex article. It's not clear from your posting which files you downloaded.
In glotpress, there is distinct core, plugins and themes sections of downloads. You download the front end file from the core front end section and put it in languages/simple-press folder. You download the appropriate theme translation from the themes default section and put it in languages/themes.
Sorry, at work replying via email so cannot see whole thread. Will look more closely tonight.

so to be more clear...
you got the front end translations from: http://glotpress.simple-press......sion-51/sp
and the default theme translations from: http://glotpress.simple-press....../spDefault
and the front end translations file was put in sp-resources/languages/simple-press...
and the theme translations file was put in sp-resources/languages/themes
as that codex article says...
