Hi all,

I just updated to version 5.2.2 and am now unable to see the groups or forums when I go to /forum.  I deleted all the old forums and started over with a new group and new forum, added all the permissions etc. but to no avail.

I'm sure it's something simple that I am missing. Perhaps someone here can give me some tips.

Screen capture attached.

Thanks

I was afraid you might ask that.  I believe it was 4.2.  I followed the instructions to upgrade and everything went smoothly until I discovered that I was not able to access the forums.

I have no problem at all accessing the backend of Simple Forum to make changes etc.  I just am not able to actually USE the forum.

Thanks

Pam

Oh - quite an old version now.
I fear you may have fallen foul of an issue which some - quite a small number but some - users have witnessed whereby the permission records get scrambled. Try as we might we have never been able to track the issue down.

Can you tell me if (a) you have defined any/many new permission sets and (b) do you have many forums?

I installed it over a year ago and never did much with it other than setting up couple of test forums and some permissions. If there isn't a fix for this problem, I won't lose any sleep if I end up just nuking the entire installation and rebuild from scratch.

Do you think that would solve the problem if I just install it fresh?  I don't want to go through all that effort if I don't have to.

Thanks,

Pam

yes a fresh install would more than likely fix it...  Andy was going to suggest going to forum - permissions - reset permissions and see if that fixed it...  but wanted to check if you had any special permission customizations...

Hey, resetting permissions did the trick!  I knew it had to be something simple that I was overlooking (I am such a blonde! rolleys)

Thank you Mr. Papa and Yellow Swordfish!

Sorry that you also fell foul of that old and undiscovered bug.... but glad you seem to have it resolved without too much sweat...
