Hi Mr. Papa,
I have tested (disabled) all of the other plugins on the site against the TinyMCE Editor for S:P. I have also removed my framework/theme and taken the site down to the bare bones so that only the following items are running:
(1) Wordpress
(2) Wordpress default "2014" theme
(3) Simple-Press
(4) TinyMCE Editor plugin for Simple-Press
Even on this bare bones installation, the TinyMCE Editor plugin continues to prevent anyone from adding a new post or topic as long as it is active. Once I deactivate the TinyMCE Editor plugin, then we can add new posts and topics, however, as you know, we lose the ability to add any styling, e.g., bold text, underline, large text, etc. to the posts that the TinyMCE Editor plugin should provide.
Given that there are no other plugins running, I do see how it can possibly be another plugin conflicting with TinyMCE. Any thoughts of where to go from here?
Oh, and our site is completely up to date with the latest versions of everything -- WP, 2014 theme, S:P and TinyMCE Editor for S:P.
Thank you.
is your site still in the condition you mentioned above? no plugins and default theme?
since this is still a one off (only issue with tinymce thus far that wasnt caused by another wp plugin) we would need to investigate it locally at the source of the issue...
we would need at a minimum, wp and sp admin access to the site for investigative purposes... we might also need ftp access to upload some debug code... is that possible?
have you checked the server error logs? multiple browsers? or which one specifically? are you using the sp js cache (forum - options - global settings)? if so, can you try disabling?

I just want to add that there could be others with the same problem. I just disabled my tinymce instead of finding the culprit. I know, it was very lazy of me.
Figured that being without it was no big deal though I admit that it's much sexier with tinymce than without.

Hi Mr. Papa,
Right now, the site is not in the condition mentioned earlier. We restored it in order to continue the development process on other parts of the site. But we can certainly strip the site down to the bare bones config when you are ready to take a look at it.
I'm completely fine with you having WP and SP admin access to poke around and look at things. I had previously created an account for you to log into the forum on the production site. However, we are testing everything first on our development site. I have created a new user account with administrative privileges for you on the development site. Would you like me to PM you the details?
The forum and website have been tested in Firefox, Safari and IE, and in all browsers, we aren't able to add a new post or topic.
We also were not using the SP js cache, so it was already disabled in both the development site and production site installs.
As for server logs, is there anything in particular I should look for? I'm not terribly familiar with perusing those, so if there is something that I should be on the lookout for, I want to make note of it.
If you will let me know when you would like to poke around in the site, I will be sure to strip it to the bare bones for you. And if necessary, I will also create an FTP account for you to upload your debugging software. I presume that you only need access to the development site's home/root folder? I have several other client sites under development that are also hosted in the same hosting account, so I want to make sure we don't need to add any scripts or programs or files to any directory other than that for the Alcohemy development website.
Thank you,
Kasey (web designer for David Norman)
probably tomorrow morning (PST) time would work... maybe 10 or so... you dont have a deployment server?
I would check the server error logs for any php error...
as to ftp, really would only need access to the wp-content folder in the site (or if you want to be more specific wp-content/sp-resources and wp-content/plugins/simple-press)...
please make sure you have a backup of db too before turning me loose... 😉 havent screwed one up yet, but also like security blanket...

OK.. so now I have it working.. this time I tracked it down to cformsII plugin - but it must have been a combined issue previously with the SP mentions plugin and that's why disabling all the WP plugins yesterday didn't help
Finally had a few min to get back to this. Found a setting in cforms to disable the cforms button on the tinymce toolbar and that fixed the issue with the toolbar not showing in the forums. I only use forms on my site occasionally so not having a button for easy inserting on wp pages/posts is a nice quick fix
