Hi

On my WP dashboard it's showing that I need to update my SP plugin. Under plugins it says:

Simple:Press You have version 5.7.3 installed. Update to 5.7.3 Build 14754.

I do the update. It says it's been done successfully. Then it says:

Your Simple:Press forum is temporarily unavailable while awaiting a database upgrade

Then I get an error message via Sucuri:

  • Error Code: HTTP 504
  • Error Message: Backend or gateway connection timeout.
  • Server ID: cp13006

Then I have to log back in to my dashboard. When I log back in it shows the plugin has not been updated.

My understanding is that I have to do the WP update manually. I went to your website and downloaded the zip file with the:

Simple Press Core Plugin For WordPress

Is this the correct plugin I need to manually upload to resolve this?

Thanks

Well - the first thing you said there is that it reports 'You have version 5.7.3 installed'. Is that correct? Definitely says 5.7.3? If it does then you must have already performed the upgrade and no - you should not need to manually get it from our website - it should all happen on your WP updates page.

Every now and then it can report it needs upgrading even though it has been done. This is usually because there are also some Simple:Press plugins that need an update and of there are these should appear in the list.

However - to check that, your server has to talk to our server and download a small XML file with all the data needed and it looks like your server is timing out trying to retrieve that. You may need to up the timeout if it remains a problem. Our server does appear to be running smoothly and pretty responsively.

I would suggest you go to the forum admin > Toolbox > Housekeeping and run the task to 'Flush XML Cache' and after that visit the WP admin Updates page and see what is what. It will try and download a fresh copy of the XML file. Hopefully it wont timeout before it gets it.

when you say, 'do update', do you mean the wp update or our update process via the button on forum admin panel?  if latter, something may be blocking the ajax requests we use...  since you mentioned sucuri, its possible they need to add it to a whitelist..
