My fellow admin, Conrad_Farlow, updated Wordpress a couple of days ago (I believe to 3.5.1). Since then he can see forum stuff in the Dashboard but I cannot any longer. We tried everything we could think of and, clutching at straws, everything which was unlikely but worth a shot.
He is unfortunately busy and not able to sort this, and I cannot do much without access.
Any ideas please? that I can sort. Or some suggestions that I can email him for when he is available.

Assuming you still have forum admin rights then you should see it if he does - it is a global setting.
The only possibility I can think of off-hand is that it has been turned off in the WP screen options at the top. Is that possible?

I assume I still have admin rights. I can see Board Admin Area forums, and I have the topic and post tools
Thought of that but it is still checked in the screen options. Have unchecked, logged out, logged in, re-checked ..... all the "daft" things tghat you know won't cure it, but you do anyway 
I know it's gonna be one of those "will kick yourself when you find out" things, but I'm not proud

I can think of no other possible cause however. I will ask the other team members here however.

Mystery solved.
Not sure why but when I went to forums/admins/manage admins all of Paul's Admin capabilities were unchecked. Once I selected the appropriate capabilities the forum menu display was restored in the WP Admin Dashboard.
