Hello-- I am setting up our forum. I have purchased the subscription to simple-press. When I try to view the information on the codex site I am redirected to this https://simple-press.com/membe.....plugins%2F

Sorry you can't see this...pay us now 🙂 I did...so how do I see it now??

Thank You

have you actually logged into the codex site using the same credentials as here?

there has been an issue with new members, but I did verify that your credentials here should work there too...

Yes I did try that before posting to the forum. I had logged out...relogged in....only thing I didn't do was a reboot. I am quite lost on setting all this up. Are there video tutorials? a guide book?

One thing I did try last night was setting up the login via the 3rd party. I still have no idea if that is working...sorry quite confused on logins ...

arrrgh...I think I need a shot of rum chatta LOL

Thanks

A bit confused... are you talking about logging into our codex or you site? we dont have 3rd party logins anymore on the support forum or the codex...

have you been able to log into our codex? though the install stuff on the codex is open to all...

are you having issues setting up your site? if you could elaborate we can try to help you...

I rebooted and was able to log into the Codex part of Simple-press. At first I was not able to see all the instructions as I was given partial instructions and then told to buy the support. Which I did.

Now...I have figured out most of the set up.

At this point I have 2 questions

1) When uploading the plugins to the wpcontents/sp-resources--should those be unzipped ( I know probably a simple question to the coders on here...which I am not...obviously)

2) Is it possible for members to log into my fourm using their facebook/twitter/other site information? I began this process before your site came back live today. I went to RPX Login--followed the instructions--got the api key and I don't think I have it working.

On another note...I have disabled all wp comments and did not feel the need to allow ppl to register for my site. I see now that I should have that activated. I have been primarily using FB login and registration for newsletters via aweber.

If you would like me to put my website link here I will but do not want to go against the rules.

Thanks so Much!

#1... yes the plugins should be extracted before uploading... so you will upload a directory and a bunch of files to the sp-resources/forum-plugins directory...

#2... you can use the rpx (janrain) feature of simple press to enable 3rd party logins...  but you must have created an account on janrain first and set up your stuff there... on their configuration page, you need to set up janrain to work with your site...  then on forum - components- login and registration you would enter in the rpx data from janrain...

no issue posting a link to your site here... it helps us troubleshoot with you... if you prefer to keep it hidden from others, you can pm us the data - just refer back to this topic so we know what it pertains to...

simple press does not need comments enabled... those are for wp blog posts and have nothing to do with the forum... though you can integrate comments and forum topics if you want - but thats a wholly different issue...

but yes, simple press does not have its own registration and user system... we simply use the already existing structure of wp... so if you want users to join your forum, you need to enable registrations on your forum... if you are worried about these users getting in your admin, you can block that on forum - options - global settings...

Thank You

Not sure which one of us is the night owl here 🙂

OK...some of these issues I have managed to work out with your help and plain not giving up!

Currently stuck on the plugins not showing up. I have made sure they are in the correct folder in my directory. (unzipped).

I have double checked my admin permissions in the admin settings. Everything looks fine but they are not showing. I am sure I am missing some easy step here.

Again

Thank You

Patti

Let's double check everything first before we see if there is a problem.

So - in the /wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins/ folder you should now have one sub-folder for each SP plugin you have uploaded. Is that correct?

When you navigate to the forum admin > plugins panel do you not see them listed?

If you do then this is where you can activate them.

If you do NOT see them then there is probably an issue that a few users have had with server folder permissions. A nuisance more than anything and I can help you sort that if necessary.

to clarify Andy's third paragraph, are you able to see sp admin panels for the plugins?  see image:

Just read your PM Patti, you can ignore my question, you are seeing the admin panel itself...

So please look at my reply and check the ownership of the sp-resources directory on the server...
