The recent post list is a template tag or widget both of which are available through our SP template tags plugin. We do not actually show it but there IS an unanswered SP plugin as well although that displays as a page.
Details are in the codex - plugins section on both the template tags plugin options and all of the others.

You will need to do something. These are standard WP style template tags. Recent posts comes as a template tag or a shortcode (http://codex.simple-press.com/.....ent-posts/) and also in the form of a widget (http://codex.simple-press.com/.....ts-widget/) which can be added to any widgetised area of your Wp theme.

Well is it recent posts you want to show? May I ask why? After all - the quicklinks drop down AND the 'Unread Posts' button all will show a user the most recent posts and - in these cases - streamlined to the posts they have not read.
But if you do want to out it onto just the forum page sidebar or somewhere then there are functuiosn you can use to check for this - like the sp_is_forumpage() function for example.

Earlier I also had a list of new posts at the bottom of my forum - not in the WP-template, but inside the forum. Where has that list gone? Is there something I'm missing - some button in admin I've deactivated maybe?
It was a "sitewide" list of new posts.. any clue?
Also
The little button that shows most recent topics with unread posts.
Why is it like this:
1. Post - 3 hours ago
2. Post - 40 minutes ago
3. Post - 6 hours ago
4. Post - 4 hours ago
etc.
Why isn't the list sorting from top to bottom - the most recent --> the oldest?
My users are used to phpbb, where they had a single page, showing the lates active threads... Sorted from top-bottom --> Newest to Oldest. Is there a way to accomplish this?
I get a lot of questions about this.
Not meant as criticism, just a question I like simple:press a lot..
depends... by default in our themes, its only shown on the group view page...
also, by default its not shown to admins... though you can remove the admin check from the template function...
see: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....tpostlist/
as to the most recent topics button, not sue what you mean... screenshot?? is it being grouped by group?

Ok, that's why I didn't find it
As for the recent topic popup:
The popup in my forum is the same as you have here:
Here it is sorting by time - first one in the list: 44 minutes ago, then 8 hours, 10 hours, 20 hours, yesterday, 2 days ago..
See mine here:
3 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, 2 hours. (It is not sorted by time - it's showing the list randomly).
Is the list at all meant to order recent topics by date / time, or have I misunderstood the use of the popup?
Now, it is in fact much better today than it was yesterday, yesterday it was like: 3 weeks, 1 day, 2 hours, 4 weeks, 17 minutes and so on.. Remember the re-indexing I couldn't get right after our convertion - could it be that it will fix itself if we give it some time?
And last - since our members request this one from beeing used to another forumsoftware:
Is there any possibility to show this list of the most recent topics (unread) on a new-posts-page instead of the popup?
