Update to 5.2.5 not working

I've clicked the "update automatically" link multiple times, but when I go back to my plugins page, it's still saying I'm on version 5.2.2, with the yellow announcement box telling me to update.

????

Is there something else I need to do? FTP or something? (And if so, why does it say "update automatically"?)

It says upgrade automatically, because clicking on the link updates the plugin - ftp not needed... we have had thousands of successful upgrades with this method to sp 5.2.5... you are coming from a few versions back, but shouldn't matter...

so need to understand what is going on locally... any errors in the server error log? using the browser console, what does the ajax response look like?

any chance you are running w3tc? seems they are caching the admin now or at least interfering with upgrades - or at least was case for couple users...

Can you explain how to find the browser console and the ajax response? (I'm not a native techie! English, please! ;) )

I tried deactivating w3tc, but had the same problem -- it says it upgraded successfully, but back on the plugins page it still says 5.2.2

There are consoles and there are consoles! The simplest to use would be the built in Firefox Error Console under the Tools > Development menu (usually). Open it and clear it out. Re-load the admin page you want to test (update in this case) and run the action. When all is done look at the ERRORS tab of the console. If anything is reported then let us know what it is. Now - ONLY the errors tab please.

If nothing is reported that is not necessarily a definitive signal that all is well as the built in console is pretty basic. But see if anything pops up.

Oops... I replied to this already, but from the wrong email address. Grr... Profile duly updated with additional email address...

I went through the steps you suggested and found no errors in the errors tab of the errors console.

Auto-update is simply not working. I can certainly update via FTP, but could you direct me to the page with instructions? I always find it hard to find…

Thanks!
