Just updated to 5.3 and seems to not allow users to upload avatars.
I choose an image and it gives c:\fakepath\
as soon as you press update it says that the image is to large tried 10kb images
This is what the error log shows :
file: /simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-users.php
line: 28
function: sp_load_current_user
Notice | Trying to get property of non-object
Your problem is simply the one reported - the image is too large. Check your maximum file size setting in the forum > profile > Avatars admin panel.
'fakepath' is an HTML5 browser security feature to avoid the real file path beng sent to the browser. It dioes not stop of effect the uploading at all.
The error log entry is a notice and is just a nuisance but is unimportant. However, I will note it to get it cleaned up.

yes... the fakepath has nothing to do with simple press - any version... and it can be turned off in the browser if you show choose though as Andy says, its a js security feature... so far, I have seen IE and Chrome employ it...
