I haven't really looked at it - I don't have time tonight - but will look more closely in the morning.

upgrading from what version of sp?  and which wp version?

any mysql errors in your error log file?  that error basically means we were unable to retrieve data from the sfroles table in your db...  quite odd...

I've got it back up and running - was a little bit fun 🙂

I think what I did was I updated through the WP plugin updater interface along with a number of other plugins, without noticing that Simple-Press was included. When i looked at the Forums menu, and it said Update, I just clicked and didn't really watch. I think my update was really a downgrade to the 4.50 version.

I deactivated the plug-in, deleted it, and uploaded my backup files, and it came back up, though it was missing all the permissions. I reset the forum/group permissions and ran the upgrade through the Forum menu, and it upgraded just fine.

I do have one odd issue now. When I browse to the Forum as a guest, I don't see any of the groups/forums. I noticed this issue in these forums last night, and will research that before opening a new post.

hehe - on my site - the one with the upgrade issue. If I'm not logged in, I don't see any groups or forums, just the borders around where they should be.

Odd: I just went to the site in question as a guest and can see everything. I changed the theme overlay - but that wouldn't have any effect. I need sleep. Never mind 🙂

I just did the upgrade properly on a brand new site, it it worked flawlessly.

When I went to update the default theme, 1.03 to 1.04, it completed, but the forum admin still shows 1.03 and requests that I upgrade. Maybe a permissions error that isn't being reported?

have you tried the theme upgrade again?  and are you sure we are talking about our default?  by that, I mean you havent previously copied our default into your own theme?

Yes - this is the default - it's the only theme I have in place.

I just verified that, and it was now prompting to upgrade from 1.03 to 1.05. I ran the update, it reported success, and when I went to the SP Themes admin, it still reports 1.03.

My apache error log shows:[Fri Dec 23 21:18:26 2011] [error] PHP Warning: closedir(): supplied argument is not a valid Directory resource

A new line is entered each time I try the theme update. I checked the files in the theme directory and nothing has changed. The directories and files are not writable. I'm guessing it's just not displaying an error (as the main plug-in updater does). I made the default theme directory 777 throughout, and re-ran the theme update. Same error in the logs this time, and the SP Admin still reports that I'm using 1.03.

work your way up the chain...  starting with wp-content and then sp-resources, what are the permissions and owner?  permissions should be 0755...  guessing when the directories are not owned by the web user...

Everything is at least 755, and all files and directories are owned by the web user. Nothing is owned by apache any more.

It's interesting - there's no more error messages added to the apache log, but the results are the same.
