This morning my hosting service shut my site down due to huge server load which they said is being caused by plugins...the only thing I did different yesterday was to upgrade to v5 and have it create new table locations so everything would be happy. Help? Should I delete these new tables? How do you think I can optimize this situation?frown

not sure what you are saying about the tables...  but 5.0 has across the board made dramatic improvements in server loads... lots of optimizations were made...  no reports of slow down or load issues - just the opposite...

any more details you can provide?

When I created my site, I changed the default table prefixes (to make it more secure). I noticed that the v5 tables are using the default prefix, so now I have two tables for each item...do you think that could be confusing things? Or causing a slow down of some type?

not sure how...  we would only access tables using the wp db prefix... the others are but duplicates and could be removed...

So I could remove the old ones?

I would think so...  you could export a db backup before hand just to be safe...

So when the new v5 tables were created, did they copy over the old data?

what?  any new sp tables would have the same wp db prefix as the existing db tables...   only completely new ones would be added and there would be nothing to copy...    for existing tables, v5 uses the same tables as v4...

I'd upload a screen capture of my database tables, but I can't seem to create a small enough file. There are basically two sets of tables for the SP forum...

tswp_sfforums

tswp_sfgroups

tswp_sflinks

tswp_sfmembers  and so on...and then these:

wp_sfforums

wp_sfgroups

wp_sflinks

wp_sflog

wp_sfmembers

etc...

well, the ones we use would have same wp db prefix as the wp site itself...

did you say you changed that?  if so, how? did you change all db tables or just the wp specific ones?
