I've downloaded the 5.0 version and uploaded as usual in wordpress

I've deactivated then deleted the previous version of simple:press (4.4.5 )

I've activated the new version and tried the upgrade, that fails and I receive this message:

Upgrade Aborted
6398
6624
success

I've tried both rewriting external folders option and without that option

I've tried with firefox and with explorer.

Can anybody help me?

looks like upgrade... but usual fashion?   it would be quite different for 5.0 from 4.5... did you follow:

http://codex.simple-press.com/.....rsion-4-5/

even the directory name is different and old one needs to be removed...

that is also the first upgrade section which drops 2 tables and creates 2 tables... are you sure your mysql user has permission to create/drop tables?

have you checked your error log?

First of all thank you for your kind reply.

I followed instructions that you suggested, that seems to me exactly the same procedure I've described step by step in my previous message, I can't understand your point about usual fashion.

For sure the (failed) upgrade dropped 1 table because I've tried to restore the old one and I can see this error message:

WordPress database error: [Table 'db_mentalist.wp_sfsettings' doesn't exist]

sorry for the stupid question but I don't know where's the error log..

well, sorry, there's a thing I did differently! first time I tried upgrade I didn't completely remove old plugin after deactivation, I renamed the folder. Then I tried again removing files.

What Steve was saying is that the point of original failure contained commands to create new tables and make alterations to existing ones. So is it possible that you do not have CREATE or - perhaps more likely - ALTER rights to your database? This is something you may need to ask your host although cPanel will also be able to tell you (usually anyway) if that is what your host uses.

Ok clear. I've just tried to log in my db account with the same user/password used by wordpress and I've been able to create a new table and alter the same table, changing its name.

Moreover, I've talked with my hosting provider and they've changed some settings but still the upgrade is not working.

what version of wp?  if on 3.3+ you might try going to sp 4.5.1 first since 4.4.5 really doesnt work on wp 3.3.

Nothing, I've tried to download & upload again the new plugin (5.0) but the upgrade doesn't work. I've tried deactivating all others plugins before to start the upgrade procedure but was useless
